Description
The feeding place:
Feeding can begin as soon as the frost sets in. Scatter the food on the ground in open areas so the birds aren't at risk of being eaten by cats lurking in the bushes. Another option is to place a feeding board or a feeding tube/tube attached to a branch with a rope. The cats will readily eye it. Place the feeding board in a sunny, sheltered spot, preferably where you can keep an eye on them from behind a window. Make sure there's a canopy over the feeding board to prevent the food from getting wet or disappearing under a snowstorm. Furthermore, it's best not to place the feeding board near large trees, garden sheds, pergolas, etc., where cats can jump off.
