Our ingredients
To make our food, we dry-cure 10.6 kg of meat for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to incorporate into our kibble. With the right amounts of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.
Buffalo
At Yourdog, we use meat from free-raised, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh flavor and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.
Poultry
At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together give our kibble its delicious flavor and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry promote healthy muscle growth and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables

These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its beneficial properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, specific ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific ailments can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.
Halden hound specific vegetables, herbs and fruits
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Halden Hound. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Halden Hound belongs. Based on this research, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, we have selected ingredients that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Halden Hound.
Basil
Basil is a genus in the Lamiaceae family. The name comes from Ancient Greek, where Œbasileus means king; the alternative name is therefore "royal herb." It is native to Central Africa and Southeast Asia.
Traditional medicine used basil as a treatment for arthritis, bronchitis, colds, stomach ulcers, heart disease, and stomach aches, among other ailments. Research has shown that basil may have strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. In addition, basil can promote digestion, aid waste elimination, and have antispasmodic and calming effects on dogs.
Blueberry
Blueberries belong to the heather family and grow primarily in open woodlands in the Northern Hemisphere. The plant has long been used in traditional European medicine and is known for its positive effects on gastrointestinal diseases and diabetes.
Blueberries can be added to our dog food because they're rich in antioxidants, which protect the body from free radicals. They also contain fiber that aids digestion and is rich in vitamins C and K. This can support the immune system and contribute to the dog's overall health.
Cranberry
The cranberry is a plant in the heather family. In the Netherlands, it is primarily found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare elsewhere in the country. Originally from North America, the plant is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.
Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost for dogs. The berries are rich in minerals like potassium, which helps maintain healthy levels of vital fluids in the body. They're also packed with vitamins A, B, and C, as well as antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes urine more acidic, making the bladder environment less conducive to bacteria. Adding cranberries can also have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. The healthy fiber in cranberries supports healthy digestion and helps dogs feel full longer.
Cranberry is added to our dog food because it could contribute positively to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, joints, bones, and nerve function, among other things.
Puppy, adult or senior?
To help you make the right choice between our Halden hound dog food options, you can use the following guidelines. If your Halden hound is under 11 months old, choose the Puppy variety. For a Halden hound over 7 years old, we recommend the Yourdog Halden hound senior. If your dog is over 11 months old but under 7 years old, you can choose the Adult variety.

Switching advice
If you're switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. First, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It's important to let your dog get used to this for two or three days as well. Then, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Continue this for two days. After this, you can switch to 100% Yourdog Halden hound food at your own discretion.
Storage advice
After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and flavor. Therefore, it's important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or barrel in a dry, cool, and dark place. It's best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to place the entire bag inside, sealing it as tightly as possible.
