Our ingredients
To make our food, we dry-cure 10.6 kg of meat for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to incorporate into our kibble. With the right amounts of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.
Buffalo
At Yourdog, we use meat from free-raised, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh flavor and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.
Poultry

We have carefully examined the breed characteristics of the Portuguese Water Dog. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Portuguese Water Dog belongs. Yucca
This plant grows in the deserts of Southwest America and Northern Mexico. The roots of the yucca have been used for centuries by Native Americans in these regions as a medicine for rheumatism and arthritis. It reduces pain and inflammation in the joints.
Yucca can be added to our dog food because it may positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis, the intestines, and the heart. Yucca can also help reduce stool odor and alleviate foul-smelling gas.
Parsley
Parsley is a biennial, hardy herbaceous plant from the Apiaceae family. Parsley has been used medicinally for hundreds of years. There are dozens of illnesses that parsley combats. According to various sources, it cures, among other things, diarrhea, anemia, and ear infections. It is rich in iron, more so than spinach, for example. Parsley also contains other minerals such as silicon, as well as vitamins B and C, and carotene.
At Yourdog, we add parsley to dog food because it could contribute positively to preventing breed-specific problems related to blood, heart, and kidneys.
Parsley is a natural source of vitamins C, A, and K. These can support the immune system and eyes, and can support the cardiovascular system and liver. Parsley also has anti-inflammatory properties and can act as a diuretic, keeping your dog's bladder free of debris.
Root
The carrot as we know it today, also known as the orange carrot, is the result of many years of crossbreeding. The first white carrots originated in Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in the 17th century.
Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. This is important for building capillaries and maintaining the health of all cells. The fiber in carrots contributes to a dog's digestion. Furthermore, carrots are low in calories and good for their coat and skin.

Puppy, adult or senior?
To help you make the right choice between our Portuguese Water Dog food options, you can use the following guidelines. If your Portuguese Water Dog is under 11 months old, choose the Puppy variety. For a Portuguese Water Dog over 7 years old, we recommend the Yourdog Portuguese Water Dog Senior. If your dog is over 11 months old but under 7 years old, you can choose the Adult variety.

Switching advice
If you're switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. First, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It's important to let your dog get used to this for two or three days as well. Then, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Continue this for two days. After this, you can switch to 100% Yourdog Portuguese Water Dog food at your own discretion.
Storage advice
After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and flavor. Therefore, it's important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or barrel in a dry, cool, and dark place. It's best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to place the entire bag inside, sealing it as tightly as possible.
